The Chevy Volt Song

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xvwTMZNWGuk

This is like audio and video fug. This brutal song and dance combo was played at car shows around the Volt, likely to the dismay of nearby booths. It's brutally annoying, and the woman responsible has since left her post at GM.

Attack of the Clones: Great Wall Cool Bear

Great Wall sure like Toyota, to the point where they all look the same. This takes the same approach as the CH031, where it takes the look of a Toyota and sticks on a frightening mug. That's not Cool (Bear)...

Attack of the Clones: BYD S8

This Chinese car is ripping people off all over the place. It’s logo blatantly looks like BMW’s (not visibile in this photo - it'll be posted later on), the name is from an Audi, and the look is Mercedes-Benz CLK meets SL.

Attack of the Clones: Fundai Taurata

I seem to be the only person that sees this, but I find the shapes and proportions of the front ends eerily similar (grille and headlights for example), and they their hoods both share a similar squared edge… For once, it’s a Hyundai that’s been imitated.

Honda Crosstour

When spy pictures of this car first came out, it was of a mule that was basically the American Accord front end grafted onto the Euro Accord Wagon, and it rode pretty far off the ground, kind of like the Subaru Outback. Unlike the Outback, it had pretty clean lines (ignoring the grafting), and it looked pretty butch. I liked it.

Sadly, that was not remotely the final design. Honda opted to go the "4 door coupe SUV" route, like the BMW X6 and it's sister the Acura RDX. Yet unlike either of the above, it's not remotely attractive. And it's not sporty. And it's roofline provides no utility.

As for looks I could go on and on about it, as there's not a single part I like (other than the interior). That grille, those taillights, those tiny looking wheels...

I'm sure most of you are aware of it's looks though, due to the infamous Honda Facebook page which created quite a bit of negetive feedback about this Honda's. A lesson in how NOT to introduce a controversial new car to the masses. Especially when you have no control over what people will say about it.

Brabus EV12 Black Baron

Just a couple years ago, I thought Brabus cars looked awesome. Relatively understated except for their quad fog lights (which Mercedes itself adopted), they started introducing some matte black super-powerful models which looked even better. However, starting with this car, they do not.

I'm sure the aero add-ons are mostly an aerodynamic thing, but they aren't an aesthetic one. This car is a vinyl roof away from being Darth Vader's retirement ride.

Ford Focus

Not only is the Ford Focus one of the worst iterations of the Ford 3-bar (or in this case, 2-bar) grille, it’s also a good example of changing a design based on the publics opinion for the worse. The original car had square fog lights, which fit the square edged theme of the facelift. However consumer groups apparently didn’t like them, and the final version got round fog lights, which clash a bit with the look. The looks being an origami nightmare.

Bugatti Galibier

Modern Bugatti's all seem to be in the "love it or hate it" field of car design, but I just can't get beyond the headlights of the Galibier. They're huge, and the make the car look bored and disinterested. And kind of upset. It actually reminds me a bit of Eeyore. The second pic reminds me a lot of a Praying Mantis in it's threat display, with it's giant "eyes" and hood opened like wings.

Attack of the Clones: Great Wall Florid (is Horrid)

Another Great Wall Toyota rip-off. They seem to offer a couple models: the base model that looks like a first generation Toyota Yaris up front and is a dead ringer for a Scion xA past the front wheels, and some kind of quasi SUV model that looks more like the xA up front. Although I think the name is the best part...

Attack of the Clones: Great Wall CH031

Another case of the Chinese emulating the Japanese. It seems they're really taken to Toyota lately, most likely as Toyota has global reputation for quality. This oddly named car is a blatant copy of the current Yaris, although up front it goes all crazy with some Mitsubishi Lancer headlights mounted alongside a gigantic, chrome accessorized grille. Which earns it bonus points in the fug department.

Attack of the Clones: Chang’an Yuexiang

According to the car industry, the Chinese apparently struggle to come up with their own ideas. Finding a Chinese car that hasn’t stole the looks from a car from a popular manufacturer can be tricky. I suppose this may be a type of automotive camouflage – hoping that buyers will purchase their cheap low-grade appliances because they look like more expensive offerings from other car makers. However, it seems they’re also set their sights lower, given that this car looks not like a Benz or a BMW, but a Mazda3.

Geely Panda

Is it just me, or is this the automotive equivalent of the ghosts in the Mario Bros series?

Aston Martin Cygnet

Why would anyone in their right mind buy this little abomination? It just looks like someone tried to make their econo-car look like an Aston Martin in an attempt to fool very stupid people. Which I suppose is kind of the truth, except that someone is Aston Martin itself (being that this is a warmed over Toyota iQ).
