Mercedes W116, Joan Rivers Edition

I'm not sure why this trend of taking older Mercedes-Benz models and making them look like newer models (but not really) started. These people need some kind of support group.
Fugging Americans...
So the Ford Fiesta is here, and it had been touring America in it's European form for quite a while. Our version is pretty much the same car is the Europeans get, but Ford STILL uglied it up a bit for us. Why, I'm not sure. It seems to stem from the fact that North America has this obsession with between-the-headlights grilles.
The 5 door fares a bit better than the sedan on all accounts, but note the resilient 3 bar chrome grille (thankfully sedan only). Both the sedan and 5-door get chunk, chrometastic fog lights to replace the simple round units in the Euro model, and the sedan gets an oddly overweight looking body due to the tacked on trunk.

El Camaro

Early styling mock-ups for the SSR did not fare well in focus groups. People should just stop trying with this concept...
Mercedes Devolution

Someone has been fiddling with this poor old Mercedes' (is it an E-Class or an S-Class?) genes. SL headlights, SLK taillights, SLR hood vents... Not to mention the shark gills on the sides, or the sextuplet tailpipes out back, or the ASMA inspired grille up front (why is this hideous look a fad?)...

Wankel powered Wanker

Another case of the adding Mercedes cues to Japanese sports cars. This version IMO is better off in the looks department, but it looks more like a Celica than a Mercedes. And I doubt they're trying to emulate an underpowered and googly-eyed Toyota.
