Miata gets DAMD

God - it's like a disease. Apparently this Aston Martin look is referred to as "Black X Metal" by DAMD, and it's about as infectious as Rebecca Black, in an equally bad way. It's the black plaque...

Lamborghini Reventain't

Not sure why this RX-8 owner decided to turn his car into a faux Reventon, since the cars don't like remotely similar in the first place. The resulting clash of organic and angular lines make it look like it's wearing a kit made of cardboard boxes.

Aston Martin Vansquish

Another update to a previous post, I have more pictures of the Miata based Aston Martin. It looks just as awkward from other angles as it does from the front. The Hyundai Sonata tails are a nice touch (although they do look a bit like those on the Vanquish

Miabra

I had this car waiting to be posted for a while - I didn't realize I hadn't until my previous post where I tried to reference it. Anyway, here's the Miata based Cobra I was talking about. I suppose it doesn't really look THAT bad, in a cute anime kind of way. It's like a Pokémon Cobra. Baby got back though...

Oh, my, god. Becky, look at that trunk.
It is sooo big. *scoff*
It looks like, one of those kit cars.
But, you know, who understands those kit car guys? *scoff*
They only like them, because,
it looks like a Colbra, 'kay?
I mean, that trunk, is just sooo big.
I can't believe it's just so round, it's like,
out there, I mean - gross. Look!
It's just so ... fugly!

Puny Car

The Mazda Miata seems to be turning into the darling of the kit world, as you can transform the car into any horribly proportioned creation you can imagine, from an Aston Martin to a Cobra. Or in this case, a early Mustang convertible.

Wankel powered Wanker

Another case of the adding Mercedes cues to Japanese sports cars. This version IMO is better off in the looks department, but it looks more like a Celica than a Mercedes. And I doubt they're trying to emulate an underpowered and googly-eyed Toyota.

Mazda 3 is happy to see you

I was a big fan of the first Mazda3. I thought it set a high water mark for small car design, and was close to buying one. However much better mechanically the new Mazda3 is than the last, I can’t get over it’s maniacally grinning anime face. For one it just looks too damn happy. And for two, it’s just so obviously not actually a grille. This is especially obvious is lower rent models where most of the crosshatch faux grille is blocked off with black plastic. Plus it was a weird little chrome lip that makes it look like the car has braces or is wearing a retainer. Maybe they had to make the low end models look nerdier to make the higher end ones more attractive.

Attack of the Clones: Chang’an Yuexiang

According to the car industry, the Chinese apparently struggle to come up with their own ideas. Finding a Chinese car that hasn’t stole the looks from a car from a popular manufacturer can be tricky. I suppose this may be a type of automotive camouflage – hoping that buyers will purchase their cheap low-grade appliances because they look like more expensive offerings from other car makers. However, it seems they’re also set their sights lower, given that this car looks not like a Benz or a BMW, but a Mazda3.

Worst Prowler Ever

Behold - the Lonestar Growler. Innovative name! Sadly, it looks very much like the half Jeep test mules Chrysler made up back in the day to test out the mechanicals but keep the paparazzi confused as to the final styling.

On the guessing theme, is this made out of a BMW Z3 or a Miata?

When leopards attack...

This poor Protege. On second take, that strange black and gold fabric covering everything just seems to be a strange pattern that gives the illusion of leopard print.
